it means you did not pay it, and they "charged it off" or wrote you off as a business loss on their taxes, they usually 1099 you for the amount so you have to pay income tax on it when they do... you could get an audit if you don't list the 1099's as additonal income on your tax returns. |

As you were told by everybody, that it was uncollectible. But what they did not ask you was are you aware of the account in question? If you have no knowledge of the account, write a letter to the credit bureau and tell them you are disputing it. If you do not get a reply within 60 days, they have to remove it. |

It means you never paid them, it went to collections and then the collections agency wrote it off too because you never paid them either. It does not mean you don't owe the money still you just owe the money and all the fees and interest the money owed has been accumulating to the collections agency instead. If you were ever planning on buying a house, a car or anything in the future get this taken care of. The collection account will stay on your credit for 7 years and will keep you from renting cars and apartments too. |

It means you did not pay, they tried to collect, an now they have taken off their books. That comment will stay on your report for 7 years.
Be aware that they could have also sold your debt to a collection agency and that company can continue to try and get the money possibly resulting in another negative situation. |

It means you did not pay the debt and the company wrote it off as bad debt.... it is not a good thing and will decrease your credit score. |

charge off account is a collection open.
they are pretty much the same. They are under Derogatory accounts. Please be very careful because they have a negative impact on your credit score. Contact the company that report this issue to the bureaus. |

In laymans terms, it means that the creditor moved your debt from the good debts ledger to the bad debts ledger. It is an accounting term...and you still owe the money. |
