When you say coupon I am assuming it is a money off coupon. If so I would think that you could not take the coupon and buy a gift card.
Say you have a $2.00 coupon and you wanted to buy a $10.00 gift card. They are not going to let you buy a $10.00 gift card for $8.00 by using your coupon. Hope this is what your looking for. |

It depends on what kind of coupon/clearance it is. If it's like 50% off the entire store for example they won't let you buy a $20 gift card for $10. Then you could just keep buying gift cards and make a ton of money. But if that is the sale then you should be able to buy any other item in the store with a gift card.
Other than that it may be a specific rule the store has. So I'd say you're probably pretty darn safe to go ahead and buy something with that gift card. |

Is it like a 25% off or buy 1 get 1 free kinda coupon? (Or something similar)? Because if so, this probably means that you have to purchase the item with cash or credit card in order to use the coupon. If you use a gift card, they will charge you the full price.
