What earns a higher credit score making the minimum or full payment on credit cards?
I would like to know which method will result in higher credit score I have heard many different opinions.
1) Make minimum payment
2) Full payment
3) Pay the minimum payment on a bi-weekly basis
I am only asking about the best way to build FICO score NOT the about the risks associated with credit card debt.
I think they base it on your payment history more than the amount you pay. They also look at your credit/debt ratio so try to keep your balances low. Maxed out cards that your paying the minimum on still looks bad. You want to have about 50% of your limit available.

You need to keep a very low balance, are pay in full each month. And on time payments, and no over limits.

I would make a full payment if I could. All it says on your credit report is "pays as agreed", meaning you are paying it on time. It does not show how much you paid. (it only shows the highest balance you had).

It's best not to let the balance exceed 50%. Example: if your credit limit is 300 don't let the balance go over 150. When paying your bill always send more than the minimum payment. If your payment is 20 then send 40.

All good answers above mine but they are all off the mark. The magic number is 20%. Keep your balances to less than 20% of the available credit limit. Make at least the minimum payment every month, doesn't matter one iota if you pay extra. That is the best way to increase your credit score (within the parameters of your question).

steady, continual payments of MORE than minimum will improve your credit score dramatically... often in a period of just a few months.

MOST important thing is how quickly you pay ..never be late!

pay your card OFF each month
but if you call your credit card company and ask them, they can give you a more direct answer

You will see your highest score boost for taking your balances to less than 35% of your credit limit for that card, and 35% total balances to total credit limits among all your cards. Your payment amounts do not factor into your score at all, only the outstanding balance does. (Of course late payments hurt you).
