What happens if i move abroad and do not pay my credit card off?

nothing will happen. it will screw up your credit rating for 7 years and that is all. there is no way that you will be sued while living abroad.

funny f
You will get sent to collections, and possibly have negative affects if you ever try to move back to America. You will have a bad credit rating, and they can garnish your wages (but probably will not do so) in America, but the cannot do so abroad. If you are gone for 7 years (look into amount of years in your state) then your bad credit will expire and the credit companies will have no recourse for collections. So, good luck, and happy Moving!

addicted.to.beauty
It would definitely damage your credit, probably your ability to open new cards in the US. I also know companies can sue you.

I don't really know what the consequences are abroad, however. Visa, for example, is a global company, so it would follow you regardless...

I also think

well you will have bad credit for pretty much the rest of your life. But if you stay out of the country for at least 7+ years, then your credit accounts will be charged off. This is not a good thing! But it will be illegal for them to collect 7 years after a charg off is placed.
The best thing to do is, pay your bills, and remember that is what you agreeded to do.

You will probably be ok. You would have to pay it if you come back. When you cross borders legally, they ask you how much money you have, and what your plans are in their country, and so forth. Maybe you should cross borders illegaly if you have no money. I tried the whole refugee thing, and nobody in the whole world is accepting american refugees right now. Maybe if we had gone off 10 years ago, we'd be ok now, but I kinda think we're stuck here. Good Luck.
oh and good night

if you're not planning to return then you'll get away with it just as long as you're never going to use a credit card again or deal with U.S. banks again.

At the same time; all those things you own will get repoed.

You will be released of all credit debt and foreign banks will give 200$ for being such a bad ***.

Theyll find you. Theyll take your stuff and youll be under bad credit.

sweetnsassy
You will be in trouble if you you move back to the states. You never know what might happen, things might not go according to plan and you may have to come back even briefly. You don't want creditors filing liens or turning you over to collection agencies.

SlapChop Ur gonna love my nuts
it will go to collections, if it's for a high amount they will sue you. you wont show up cos you are out of the country... ultimately it will show on your credit.....

Many people have done it. For example My aunts son. If you have no property in USA- You have nothing to lose. The worst thing they can do is to damage your credit. You will NOT go to jail for owning somebody money.
Try to file bankruptcy before you leave the country.

We are all screwed

You will have bad credit

Laura Nosnalem
Then you're running away from your problems.

One day when they catch you (and they will catch you), you will then owe tons of interest.

If you're having trouble with it, go to your bank/credit union and try to get them to take the debt as a loan. They will have much better interest rates and a payment plan that will suit your needs.

Or if it's really bad, go bankrupt. But don't run away. And don't get another card.
