mr485185 | What happens when a credit card company sues you? |
what exactly does that mean? |

They will try to get a judgment to do anything from claiming any assets you have to pay the credit card bill to attaching your wages and taking money out of your paycheck to pay the bill to getting a lien on your home.
Recent laws signed by those lovely Republicans in the federal government have given all advantages in credit card disputes to the company and the little guy gets screwed. You most likely owe $20,000 or more in bills so this whole episode can run you maybe 4 times that by the time this is settled.
By the way recent laws have made bankruptcy not much of an option getting out of credit card debt.
In short, if you fail to go to a credit counseling service you are up the creek without a paddle and have absolutely no control over the matter.
You would be wise to go to a credit counseling service and address this matter right away. |

They take you to court in pursuit of the money you owe them. You are told to pay their legal fees. Depending on the amount you owe, it is usually a scare tactic to get you to pay. If it is high then they probably will sue. The lawyer fees are $5000. You need to come up with pay stubs or anything to argue your case, why you can't pay or why you don't think you owe.
What most likely happens is they send the collection to an agency who will call you a lot. It get marked on your credit report as "in collections," which dings some points. |

They will get a judgment against you and take part of your income. File for bankruptcy ASAP. |

You obviously are way behind on your payments and have refused al their requests to pay them back what you owe them. By suing you, they hope to win a judgment against you which is one step short of their raiding your bank accounts and garnishing your wages. |

they are taking you to court to prove that you owe them money from a credit card bill they will bring any evidence, if they win they will put in for that plus late fees plus court fees an anything else they can legally get away with . |

I would go mad out of my mind. Depending on how much you went over your budget and how much income you bring home in a week. You know banks and credit companies are billionaire's to life why should they sue f me. Suing me is like taking my lunch money for school. |
