What happens when you do not pay a loan?
A bank had agreed to take 11k for a loan of 20k. I proceeded to give my routing number and bank account. We agreed on the 6th of the month and they would take the payment on the 30th. All this time I did not received a call from them. The day of the payment one of the managers got on the phone and told me that they will not take the payment anymore. Is this a breach of contract, and can I hold them accountable to their offer?

Queen of Practicality
Unless you got it in writing you are probably out of luck. It will be your word against theirs. If you did take them to court it would cost you a bundle and they would probably have expensive lawyers to make sure they win.

If you don't pay your loan you will be sent to the creditors and they will seek payment. Your credit will majorly suffer as well.

Seriously a complicated question that can go many different ways. From what you have said I would suggest pressing the issue with the bank. Bottom line is if you did not pay on time that may have voided your payment agreement and put you in default and you owe everything plus late and collection fees. They can get a judgment against you. However if they made an error you have other remedies. Contact the BBB and see if they are a member. http://www.bbb.org or your Consumer's Union in the local area.

ARTmom
Do you have it in writing? The persons name and number and ext. that arranged this? If you don't-I think you must give it up or start at the beginning again-quickly.

Do you have any of this in writing.....what ever is in writing and is signed is what's going to "hold water".

Did you get the 11K settlement in writing?
If not, it probably going to be quite hard to prove breach of contract in court.
Good luck!

A verbal contrat is legal. Yes you can hold them to it. you need an attorney. If you need more info, I work for a Creidt Attorney.

Depends on whether you have a signed agreement. Either way, your credit will be significantly damaged as you did not repay as you agreed for the $20k.
