prove you can pay the 3000dollars first,i use visa,travell a lot,even used it in cambodia,fits in most if not all a.t.ms from bangkok to london,never had a problem.getting it is the hard part.being 18 you are going to have a hard job i think,better stick to cash,no problems and no interest payments either. |

none are better than the other they all basically want your money and hope you don't pay. They love those who can't afford what they purchase. And No you won't start at 3000.00 more like 300-500 dollars to start and then you will want to make every payment plus more if you can each month. Best thing is to pay it off every month. So only put on what you can pay off when the bill comes in each month. Don't look at it as fail safe for things you can't afford. I wouldn't recommend american express there terrible. |

That really depends. if you plan on paying your credit card off each month (which should be exactly what you want to do) then the best I have found is the penfed.org card as it gives you 1.25% back on purchases and 5% backon pay at thepump gas stations. if there is a better one let me know. Now if you are not paying it off at the end of the month then lookfor a no annual fee credit card with a low low interest rate there are many rates who have great intro rates but be careful they can get you after that period. Whatever you do make all payments on time even if it is the minimum as the better your credit rating the better rates you will receive. |

No I really doubt you can get that much of a credit limit, and you really don't need that starting out, because you can possibly go buck wild.
If you have a Metropolitan National Bank around where you live, you can try to apply for one of their credit cards, I did when I was 18 and they gave me a 1000.00 limit..Also you can go to Capital One and there is a credit card they can give you that is for people that are just starting out getting their credit. Also Chase has one, but it won't be a big amount. Somewhere between 200-300 bucks will be your credit limit, BUT if you pay your bill on time every month & don't put too much on your card (close to the limit) then you can get different cards later on, or you can ask for them to increase your credit limit.

you can get some good credit cards with low apr and some reward programs and then buy the necessary things with this card and pay the bills on time. You can also try some reward cards they are good. All these will make your credit good.
