You don't need anyone to do it for you. All they do is negotiate your debts for you and collect a fee. You can do it yourself!

Call all of them and work out a payment plan and try to get your interest lowered or stopped.

Then, make the minimum payments on every one of them. On the lowest dollar value, put all your extra effort toward paying it off. Once it is paid off, then roll that extra money to the next largest balance. Continue this snowball until all your debts are paid off.

You proabbly need to cut your expenses back to the bare minimum. Get rid of cable, cell phones, internet, etc. Lower your electric bill, gas bill, water bill, etc. Don't eat at a restaurant until your debts are under control.

Try to increase your income by getting a second job. If you have a car with payments, get rid of it, and buy a good dependable used car for CASH.

Go to the library and get "The Total Money Makeover". Read it and follwo it carefully.

Go check out Dave's website as well.

There is a great place to go with this. I was in a very similar situation.

This is getting help from real people without the use of banks or credit card companies. Good Luck!

Do it yourself and save the fees and headaches. You should be able to clear that up within 2 years.

Start with the highest interest debt and put every penny you can squeeze out of your budget on that, while paying the minimum on everything else. When the highest interest rate debt is paid off, move to the next till they are all paid off.

Cut out the extras and concentrate on clearing up your debt.

In all, you have to be very careful with who you deal with. There are many Companies out there that promise the world, and pay little to nothing on your debt, make sure that anyone you deal with you do a full research of the Company on BBB.com and then in their local area with the commerce. I work in home loans and I see a lot of people get hurt more ofter then help them with their debts. The fees and the hidden lines of what they do are what catches people in the long run. For example you have to pay a percentage to that Company to do you work for you. if you pay 100.00 a month to the Company they can keep a fee of 33.00 and send the rest out to your debtors, adding that up you could actually at times contact the Company yourself, close the card and make arrangements, sometimes the same as what the Company would make for you. I also worked for a Lender and it is sometimes a bad situation all the way around for everyone. The Company loses out in fees and you lose out in what you could have paid them directly. I have sent a lot of my customers that need a little loan to their local banks or CU for lines of credit. Not only will this Pay off your current debt but it can help your credit scores. Good luck, in your search, again just be very careful. You also have the right to ask for referrals of customers, and talk to them yourself, and see how they helped them.

Before deciding to go for credit card debt consolidation, first find out if it is right for you. Start by totaling all the balances on credit cards and store cards and the APR charged on these balances. Be sure to include any other fees and charges applicable to the balance and even those levied if the balance is nil.

This will let you get an overview of all your debts on one sheet, to let you compare them at a glance. This information will give you a picture of the cost of each debt in terms of interests and charges and will help you in comparing it against the consolidation loan quotes that you will have to get later on to continue the comparison process further.

With the new bankruptcy law, breaking free from debt has become more difficult. Hence avoid getting caught in the debt. If due to any reason, you are in debt, remedy the situation immediately. Though debt consolidation loans charge lower rates of interest than most other types of loans, there is a big difference in rates charged by various lenders. Hence research the lenders thoroughly before applying. Tell the lender how much you can pay and till when you can pay. They can find out a right plan for you.
