Credit scores are based on the following factors;
1. Payment history 35%
2. Time in bureau 15%
3. Types of credit 10%
4. New credit 10%
5. Debt to credit ratio 30%
To have the best credit score and profile people need 3 credit card accounts (revolving) with balances below 30% of their credit limit and 2 cars, boats, homes, furniture or personal accounts (installment) all with good long payment history's. |

Individual situations are different, you need to expand your question and more descriptions about your situation. Basically just pay your bills on time, pay DOWN your balance (best yet, pay OFF), and etc... |

To have a good credit rating you should have at least 3-4 good lines of credit reporting into your credit files. Good means paid on time, paying at least the minimum payments, no over limits, and no excessive inquiries. Too many inquiries lower your score, and they remain in your files for 2 years.
I would suggest paying more than the minimum so as not to be charged any interest. With timely payments you should see the benefits of your efforts in your credit score with 6 months to a year.
Your score does not decrease when you request a copy of your credit report. I would sign up for a monitoring service at myfico.com because you can check your score monthly, weekly, and you can get a true score. It does not affect your score. |

no seriously, the only way to build a decent credit history is to have a row of 0's in your credit report (the number indicates how many payments overdue you are - so 000000 is good). |

Don't obsess with the fico score.
You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high score. You have to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time to keep a high score. You get nothing but debt for you trouble.
You score is based solely on debt.
How much debt you have.
How long you have been in debt
What kinda debt you have.
Your payment history on debt.
It's an I love debt score.
Pay as you go. Live on less than you make and you will have money. |

Do not keep checking your credit rating as if you have a bad credit reading you will need to wait 6 months for that to clear. Every bad credit reading counts as bad credit. Wait until you have had all your bills paid on time for 6 months to be safe. |
