i went with the freecreditreport.com. Its NOT free of course, cost 20 bucks i think. pretty good way to see everything that was going on with my credit though.

annualcreditreport.com is the only truly free site. You can check each of your three credit reports (experian, equifax, and transunion) once a year for nothing. You have to pay extra if you want your actual credit score, but your concern is potential negative accounts so this should suffice.

I do not know of a website that would do it, or if you should trust a website to do it. But your bank or credit union should be able to do it. Most places do it for nothing or a small fee.
