Unfortunately, you have to go into debt in order to get good credit . Do not get a gas card. the interst is much to high. A debit card is fine, but that does not record your credit history to the 3 major credit bureaus. Look to get a secured credit card if a non secured credit card is not available to you. These are cards where you put a deposit into the account before you begin to charge. About twice as much than your credit limit.
Pay more than your monthly payments, say if minimum payment due is $20. pay $50.00 do this for the first 6 months. This will reflect a payment history. then proceed to pay it off. After this, put charges on credit card and when you receive the statement, pay off the card. Do not make monthly payments. be sure you can afford payments. You will have a high interest rate, that is why you want to pay it off if you can. Don't put it off and say you will pay off next month. It will not happen. believe me.

I would start off with a secured credit card. This is where you give the bank $500.00 cash to get a $500.00 credit limit. As soon as u get the bill pay it off or make sure you make the payment every month or you could get a gas card for a gas station. Make sure you never spend anymore than you can pay back at one single time. It is not free money and you have to pay usually a high interest on the money if it is not payed off every month. |

get acredit card. Paid your bills on time. Next year you can take a small consolidation loan, is a good way to get good credit.

credit cards are a good way as well as paying on a car. Pay on time and pay a little extra to pay off the interest as well, never pay just the Amount Due. But dont go crazy with the cards. Some of have learned the hard way, you pay more for an item if you dont pay that bill. |

if youre responsible and pay off your credit card, yes
if you get bad habits and dont pay it off; itll hurt your credit score (and youll end up losing a lot of money too via interest).

Your bank should be able to issue you a debit card with your checking account. You do want a major credit card eventually but start out getting a gas credit card. They are usually the easiest to get. Put small amounts on it and for goodness sake, pay it off each month. Then, move on to a department store card and then a major credit card. Learning good credit habits at the beginning is SO important! I sure wish I had been wiser about it at a younger age. :-) |

WELL I JUST TURNED 18 AND I AM ALSO WORKING AND IN HIGH SCHOOL, I SUGGEST YOU GET A DEBIT CARD AND APPLY FOR A VISA CREDIT CARD BUT DONT GO OVER HALF THE LIMIT THEY GIVE YOU FOR EXAMPLE IF THE VISA GIVES YOU A LIMIT OF $200 DONT SPEND MORE THEN $100 THAT WILL GET YOUR CREDIT GOING. |
