Believe me, banks are getting a TON on money off of your percentage rates (your APR) and if you have an annual fee, late fee, overlimit fee, etc. they are profiting off of that as well.

Banks love the credit card holder who pays their minimum payment every month because a good portion of the money sent in as payment goes to them (aka. your percentage rate).

Example, if you owe $100 and your minimum is $25, which you pay, if your percentage rate is 13.99%, about $21.50 is actually going towards your balance. The other $3.50 is in the banks profit. If you have a late fee, or over limit fee, your $21.50 goes to that fee first before it touches your balance.

It is complicated and there is so much more detail involved, but banks and Visa/MasterCard, etc.. are making plenty off of that credit card you have.

My suggestion, pay off your balance in full every month before your billing cycle ends. You can call your credit card customer service and ask more detail about this. If you do this, you will never pay a percentage rate on your credit card and while banks still make money off of you, they are not making as much and you will have more money in the long run.

There are many hidden charges. Bank is doing nothing in free. You will get cards, bills, notices etc.

Credit card companies usually charge a fee from the merchent establishment - this is typically 3 % of transaction value. This helps the companies to give credit to card holders. You might have noticed that for payment to many places , typically hospitals and petrol pumps who do not give any charge to card companies, there is an extra charge varying from 2 to 3 %.
Another way by which the credit card companies make money is by allowing the card holders to pay in instalments, people do not realize that the interest on the outstanding may go up to 30 % plus taxes.
See, nothing is free in the world.

There are a lot of defaulters. If no, the bank's men would provocate you and make default and would snatch more than 200% of your credits as a token of their sincere and sympathetic service to the Nation and Society. Be self-sufficient, Be content with what you have. They even use to say 1% interest, which means 1% per day or half a day.

Yes, you have asked a very good question. Let me explain you the benefits to bankers for issue of credit cards. The bankers gain interest when you do not pay in time. The prime gain to the bank is that when the seller collects money from the bank, they are paid 5% less than the amount of purchases you have made as their commission. Why it is so because when things are available on credit you purchase more and the seller gains 10 to 15% extra so the bankers gets their commission out of it.

they charge late fee charges, application fees, hidden charges etc and make huge money...

Gone fishin'
Well eveytime you use a credit card to purchase something the credit card company gets a percent of the purchase price.
If you can't pay off the total amount on your card at the end of the month , the credit card company gets a chunk of interest from you. Once a year some credit cards get an annual fee from you just for the privelege of using their card and making them lots of money. I have one card so that there is only one bank raking it in. 3 cards is a lot of potential for trouble.
