What is the best credit card option for college students?
I'm very concerned about my building my credit and I was interested in applying for a credit card with a great rate and a very low spending limit. (I'm intending on just using it for gas or something and paying it off monthly) Where could I find such a deal? Any details about credit cards would be welcome.

Don't open CC's specially in the economy we are in right now. A good way to build credit is with small things, like having a celphone under your name and always paying it on time, keeping your bank account in the positive at all times and even consider opening a secured cc with your bank, like you having to pay before hand $300.00 at least.

You are better off letting the balance go one cycle. This allows you to build credit. You could pay it off after about a year and get another one with a better interest rate if you have a high credit score.

I got my first credit card through the following site when I was a student. It is very helpful. Try it for yourself.

You'll probably be slammed with offers around campus. That's how I got my first credit cards. I like Bank of America - they're customer service is awesome. Just be VERY careful with your credit, since you're just starting out. I speak from experience when I say don't max it out.

To not get one. You're more likely to wreck your credit than you are to build it up with a credit car. Purchasing a car and making regular payments will build up your credit just as well. Just making regular utilities payments will help your credit.

Steer clear of them altogether while in college. It's WAY too tempting and you will spend the next seven years in "credit hell" like I did until I dug myself out. Trust me on this, I did and said the exact same thing!

go to www.lowermybills.com They have some great credit card offers from lots of different lenders.

I would get a gas card, spend 50 bucks a month on it for a while make your payments on time. build your credit that way, not by getting a card with a 2500 limit on it and then going crazy at the mall on night, and have to pay on it when your 35. I hate credit cards I only have one it's a target card and I haven't used it in over a year.

THE DISCOVER STUDENT CARD! First off, you need to get a credit card. If you dont you will end up not being able to get an affordable mortage or car loan. The discover student card is a great option. First, there is no annual fee, a very low apr, and an awesome rewards program. Additionally, Discover makes sure you dont ruin your credit but starting you off with very low limits and increasing these limits each year of school. If you use applyfastbankcards to apply online you will get paid! Good luck:)

Honestly I think cc's are dangerous as it is easy to say that you as a college student will only use it for gas, etc and pay it off monthly but do you really have that willpower if your friends are spending money for this or that (or spring break trips sound enticing?). Now maybe you are in the minority of people who can handle this (then look for a no annual fee offer and seriously pay it off monthly) OR consider getting a gas CC which can only be used for gas and isn't as tempting.

Many major credit card issuers offer 'student credit cards' for college students to start building their credit. If used wisely, these offers are a great way to start building your credit score, so that when you finish college, you'll be ready to buy your own car - or home. Here's are some examples of 'student credit cards': http://www.asapcreditcard.com/student-cards.html

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!
