Actually I was in your shoes and cleared my credit. If you get a copy of your credit report and call the companies that it shows you defaulted with, You can make deals with them that if you pay off your debt with them, they will completely remove it from your report. Seriously. They can do that, and they want the money. |

Well, if you have bad credit there really is only two ways to make it better. 1= Depending on how much it is you can declare Bankruptcy. This will lower your credit score for a good long time. I think something like 10 years, but you're given a clean slate and in the ten years you can rely on a co-signer for a credit card or loan to help build your score back up.
2= Consolidate your credit. Now, I know that a lot of places CLAIM they can consolidate your credit, but be careful. A lot of people are out for one thing. Your money. So I would suggest talking with an attorney and seeing if maybe he would know any good reputable companies to help consolidate your bills. When done right this can be a very helpful thing. In most states, however, you will have to have tried to do consolidation BEFORE claiming bankruptcy. Only in the event that the consolidation doesn't work will your Bankruptcy case be valid. |

I would recommend monitoring your credit with a credit bureau like Experian.com.
There is a monthly fee $10 but you have access to your credit all the time.
On this website you can dispute old negative information - ask for it to be removed if it's from years ago.
You can dispute false information or inaccurate information or give an explanation as to why there is negative info.
They have 30 days to investigate your dispute and if they come up with no reasons why not to remove they just remove the negative report. |

If the negatrive marks on your credit are yours and are legitimate then you most likely will not be able to clear them. The good news is that the older they get the less importance they have in computing your credit score. Open a savings account and borrow against your own money. This will help you start building a positive credit profile. Get a credit card from one of the secured card companies and pay it on time every month. This will also help.
Don't fall for the scam companies offering to clean up your credit for you. You will end up poorer and the bad credit will still be there. All these guys do is send form letters (which you can do yourself) to the credit bureaus disputing the accuracy of the accounts. They rarely get anything removed. Their main goal is to get your money, not clear your credit.

You didn't get bad credit overnight so you won't get good credit overnight either. Start to pay your bills on time NOW and eventually those negatives will be replaced with positives. It doesn't matter how bad your credit was yesterday... you need to worry more about today and tomorrow. Reduce your outstanding balances for a decent debt to income ratio. Keep your credit history (dont cancel cards) to show stability with credit. Don't use credit for wants... only for needs. Try to live on cash only. Reduce your weekly or monthly expenses by shopping by value. Don't try to live like the Jones' ... they are broke. Give yourself a treat now and then but don't overdo it. Consider a part time job or business or selling things and apply that money to past due debts. There is a way out of debt but only if you start today. Make a plan and stick to it. These are the tips on how to get wealthy and the wealth starts after you're out of debt. Write down all your bills, review all your expenses, and make the decision today that the way you've been handling money is the wrong way. Start with new goals and a new attitude. |

No. The only things that can be removed from you credit report are items that are not true.
You can dispute anything, but when the credit bureaus prove that the information is true, it shows up on your credit again.
The only true way to fix your credit is to pay your bills on time every month and wait it out until the bad stuff drops off. |
