First they are different companies
Second their account numbers all begin with different digits such as Mastercard with a 5..Visa with a 4.. and Discover card or Amex with a 6.....Last each one comes with different benefits such as one gives you points everytime you use it and one might give you money back when you use it.....Also some are connected with Retail stores such as Dillards use AMEX and Gap uses Visa.....

The names/companies. Visa and MasterCard are more widely accepted than Discover though, as far as I know.

Take your pick! They'll all rob you blind.

It's just companies competing with each other.

Visa and Mastercard are just different companies that generally have the same rules. I would just find a card that fits your needs and go with it (like one that gives you rewards for grocery shopping, or skymiles...whatever you want). Discover gives you cash back on purchases but is not accepted at a lot of places, and is not accepted outside of the US.

They are the companies who own the cards and manage the payments.

Visa and Mastercard have been around longer and are accepted a little more widely.

Otherwise they are all about the same.

They are different companies. They are always trying to get more companies to accept their credit so they can say "Accepted in more places"

All different companies and all transactions are "handled" by different banks. They're all crooks. to be honest. I wish I could loan people money at 17.9%!!

Lowa
Visa and MasterCard are generally accepted everywhere, you might have a harder time with Discover Card, but it's pretty universal. In my experience, Visa is best for international use.

Phoenix, Wise Guru
