The way I brought my credit up was to charge most things on my credit card, but ALWAYS pay it off at the end of the month. Never let anything accumulate past a month because you don't want to pay interest on it. It looks good, though, if you pay it off in full every month, so it's actually good for your credit to put stuff on the card rather than pay cash or check. You just gotta make sure you don't spend more than you are able to pay back when that bill is due! It also is good to make the payment early and make more than the minimum payment.
Another reason I use this strategy is because it just makes balancing a checkbook easier. Rather than write individual entries in for each transaction, this way you only have to write in one payment--- your credit card bill. Saves room in your check register and saves time. Just make sure you check your credit card transactions online or by phone every so often during the month to make sure you're not overspending. |

The fastest way is to review your report and pay off any of the little things that show delinquent. In addition, pay your credit cards down to well below the limit.
As soon as these things are done, then call all the companies that you have made payments to, and request that they immediately update your credit history with all three credit bureaus.
It still will take up to 90 days to reflect this.
Always be on time with your payments and try to pay above the minimum required. Cancel credit cards that you really don't need. Try not to let your balances get over half of your credit limit. Get the highest paying job you can and keep your debts to a minimum. These things will establish a strong credit pattern and will keep your rating high.
Credit is a great thing when used wisely. |

Pay off your credit cards. You should owe less than 30% of your limit on each card, better if you pay it off each month.
ALWAYS pay on time, even if it is just the minimum.
DON'T cancel cards....history builds credit.
Make sure your debt is less than 15% of your Gross Income.
CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORTS!!!!!! You can check them free, once per year. You won't get your score, but getting your report is a good way of staying on top of your credit. |

How fast are you looking for your score to increase?
Keep all of your credit card balances below half of its limit.
Make all of your payments and a little bit more if you can.
Check your report and make positive sure everything belongs to you.
Your score will increase with each passing month that you pay all of your bills on time and the full amount. |

Fastest way to raise your score is to increase your available credit. In other words, pay down any debts to reduce your outstanding credit.
There is no magical solution. Just keep paying on time, paying down your loans and cards, and your score will go up.
Keep in mind that everytime you open a new line of credit, inquire about opening a new line of credit, or making a large purchase and keeping a balance, your score will go down. It will be temporary, but it will go down a bit.
So in conclusion, pay down debts, pay on time, and no new credit.

Hmm, do this:-
1 - Keep making regular payments to all your bills.
2 - At given point of time have about 7 open tradelines, atleast 3 of them with a minimum balance of $5000 or more.
3 - Get a copy of your credit report, analyse it and pay off every single Collections, Charge-Offs, Re-possessions and Judgement A/C's which you may have.
4 - Have minimum inquiries on your credit.
You'll have an amazing credit in about 8-10 months.
Good Luck |

Rather than repeating the good advice you've received already I would just add that contrary to one person's advice it's probably not a good idea to close revolving debt accounts even if you aren't using them while you're trying to increase your fico score. Part of the calculation is based on the % of debt you currently have outstanding in relation to the total amount of credit you have available to you so my advice is to pay down the debt as quickly as possible but don't close any revolving debt accounts. Once your credit is well seasoned and in the 700s+ closing accounts you're not using probably wouldn't lower your score enough to be material. |

1. Always pay on time or ahead of time.
2. maintain low balances on credit cards
3. keep your total potential debt to earnings load low - If you have a card with a $15000 credit line, you may ask them to reduce it to something more realistic, like $5000.
4. I was told by an underwriter that having just two cards, a major credit card (VISA, MC) and a consumer card (Sears, best buy, etc...) is the best mix for revolving credit.
5. You should have a recent history of both installment or term (Car or house loans) and revolving credit.

There a LOT of long answers and suggestions here, but the FACT is it's simple. The FASTEST way to bring your credit score up is by paying ALL of your debts on time. Your score will go up. Mind you, this will take a while... 6 years ago I had a 440 score. After getting my butt in gear and getting on the ball with my finances I have a score of 733 now. It took SIX YEARS of steady plodding to get to this point. Be patient, it's gonna be a while... |
