There is no magic way to do it. You can't just get bad credit erased. You gotta be honest and pay your bills. Here's how to start fixing up your credit:
1. Get your credit report and make sure everything on it is accurate. If there's fraudulent charges and accounts on there, you can have them removed by contacting the credit report company. You may have to do it in writing- but it's worth it to get that junk off your report.
2. Pay off all your old debts. Anything that's on your credit report. If the debt is in collections, call them and ask them if they will accept less than what you owe. They may be willing to make a deal- collecting some money from you is better than collecting none. If they don't want to make a deal, maybe they will set you up with a payment schedule.
3. Stay current on all of your accounts. Pay everything on time. I mean everything. Rent, car payment, credit card, phone bill, power bill, student loan. Those can all show up on your report.
4. If you have more than three credit cards, cancel them! Have no more than 3 credit cards and no more than $20,000 total in charge limits. Don't have any of those crummy secured credit cards. They are actually bad for your credit rating. So are check-cashing or paycheck advance places.
5. Other things that can show up on your credit report and give you bad credit include bounced checks, repossessed property, evictions, and criminal charges.
6. If worst comes to worst and you feel like declaring bankruptcy, remember that it will follow you around for seven years. You won't be able to get a decent rate on anything, might not be able to get an apartment, and might even have a harder time getting a job. So save bankruptcy for the last resort.
It's a lot of hard work. But believe me, when you send off that last payment you are going to feel like so relieved to be free of your bad debts. Having good credit opens a lot of doors for you. It's worth it to stay on top of your finances.
Good luck to you. |

i got my credit report from a link i got off free credit report.com
from there like somone said on here i paid off a couple of the lower ones, one i disputed""don't think it was me and apperantly they didnt eithier they dropped it.usually they roll over evry 7 years""or so i was told iv got 2 that i think will just drop off.
in the mean time got a couple of 300 dollar credit cards that you owe most of when you start""orchard bank is one of them.if this helps now iv got positive credit starting to show,KEEP UP YOU'R PAYMENTS AND TRY TO PAY MORE THAN THE MINIMUM!!were only talking about 20 dollar payments and a 300 dollar max right??
i was told doctor bills arnt as bad as others and are often overlooked when you go to get loans,
next i applied for school got a student loan now im making positive progress..
but i wasn't really bad off to start with the key is have you seen you'r credit report whats on there and is it all your's??
if it's way out of your price range maybe bankrupcy is answer but.i would try to call and reach a payment settlement alot of the companys that you'v owed for a while may consider somthing better than nothing,
and will work somthing with you good luck |

Pay on time starting now.And dont pay off collection accounts.A paid collection is as bad for your credit as a non-paid collection.Negotiate with the collection companies, tell them you will pay them, but they have to give you a letter stating when the debt is paid in full,THEY WILL DELETE THE ENTRY.NOT UPDATE IT,OR MARK IT PAID IN FULL,OR SETTLED,DELETE IT.They will claim it can't be removed, but thats a lie.Anyone who reports a bad account can remove a bad account.Hold your ground on this and they will fold. Most just want the money and could care less about your credit,so demand that letter,i did and had 4 bad accounts deleted from my report with all 3 bureaus, good luck...dw420 |

Depending on how bad, consider bankruptcy. Otherwise seek a financial advisor. Good Luck |

First, make sure all the information on your credit report is accurate.
Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are currently in collections or make payment arrangements with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.
Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the available credit line should be paid down to under half of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered when your available balance is over 50% of your total credit line.
Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make sure all of your monthly payments are made on time. This will help increase your credit score. If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card. |

my way, not everyone will agree with it, bankruptcy. wipe everything out if you have debt. its called a fresh start. from rock bottom, you can only move up.
popular way: cut up credit cards. pay lowest balances first so that you feel that you accomplished a goal. some might say highest rate. |
