They're going to ask you for money to help you claim your winnings. They'll want a check or your credit card info.

You're right, it's a scam.

Ignore it, we all get them. The best one I had was an African guy who claimed to work in a bank. He offered me £20,000,000, the supposed legacy of some guy who died in an aircrash. All I had to do was let him and his family come and live with me for six months. I put on a search for him and discovered he's tried the same scam with hundreds under slightly differing aliases.

Hi my father-in-law fell for this one and let me tell you he spent a fortune trying to claim it back a few years ago.

He recently received another one from them and we contacted Trading Standards it is a major scam do not reply to it because when we looked at the information that they had requested it was enough to steal your identity, this we know as both myself and my partner work in the financial sector.

Bin it or alternatively you can contact Trading Standards and see if they would like to see it, our Local Trading Standards requested that we sent it to them as they were needing to see which types of people the company was targeting, which in our case it was mostly pensioners.

I have seen a few of these. Basically they will ask for your details, the more details they can get the more they can get from you. Some openly ask you for your banking details to send you your winnings- the details are usually to collect cash direct from your account.

A recent one of these spanish lottery ones claimed "17 tickets" to "el gordo" - not possible as the tickets are only available in a maximum of 10. Your details can also be used to buy stuff direct- so there is no address to trace back to.

Worst case- take out loans which you will be liable to repay, how about paying for someone elses mortgage?
Definately don't send any bank details, security info. like mothers maiden name, place and date of birth - if they know when and where you were born they can get a copy of your birth certificate, a passport in your name, your national insurance number...ultimately identity theft. Which if you cannot PROVE it wasn't you, you pay!!! Maybe from behind bars- the burden is on you to prove innocence.

Sean
Just get rid of it
