What should I do, I accidentially bounced a check?
I wrote a check to my job that I found out today was returned nsf. I accidentially grabbed the wrong check book and thought I had written it out of another account, it was an honest mistake and I have the cash to cover the check. I am scared that I am going to lose my job over an accident. I always write checks there and this is the first time something like this has ever happened. How should I approach them to tell them. I want to tell them before they find out about it and make good on the check.

Don't worry! I happens to everyone, and I know it's always embarrassing but it's not that big a deal.

Tell them you wrote the check from the wrong account and have a money order in hand to offer immediately. (Not cash.)

diva
most banks have it where they'll cover you up to $500, mine is like that..but if you wrote it by accident just pay for it, and explain to your boss is was a mistake

Just go to who ever you are supposed to and tell them it was an honest mistake, that you grabed the wrong check book and you want to make good on it.

gregory_usa83
Just make good on the check and tell them about it. Cover the bounced check fee as well. I think its a rip off that the person cashing the check gets a charge as well. Just explain what happened. you'll be fine.

Bring them a money order(or cashier's check) for the original check, and bring cash to cover bounce fees...and dont wait for them to come to you, or you are in for the worst.

Jessica R
Do they know the check bounced yet? If they do then you might try talking to them, but what's done is done. If they do not know about it yet then you should be the first to tell them! Don't stress what you cannot control. Just apologize and try to focus on the positive.

larsgirl
IMMEDIATELY go to them.. tell them the same thing you just said here.... reasonable people make mistakes..
Oh.. and take the cash
GO NOW

Captain Jack
Yes...you have the answer...approach them, pay it off and explain the mistake.

It happens to the best of us...not a big deal.

DCK2003
Go into your bank branch immediately. If you are a first time offender they will probably wave the fee if you ask really nicely. Contact who you bounced the check to, apologize, and offer to pay the check in full, along with the bounced check fee. As a measure of good faith. Pay it with a money order to rectify the situation. They should not press any charges if you approach them first.

frangodschalk
You have just answered your own question. Go to them and let them know before they find out, not only that but offer the fees for the bounced cheque. They will know that you are honorable in doing so, and don't worry about about it. Like you said it was and honest mistake, no one is perfect, we all make them.

That's what I suggest.
I doubt you'll lose your job over a bounced check--it happens to the best of us.

Just take a deep breath, try not to panic and be pro-active.
Them it was an honest mistake and you've already rectified the situation (have you?)....
best of luck!

Do it right away .... keep quiet about that issue could only conduct you to loose your job..... people can understand but only if you talk to them before they find out... if that happen they will not trust you anymore....
