My friend has three credit cards debts worth about 3,000 and health loan 8,000. He wants to file bankruptcy but he has to go back to his country for the next two weeks. So he does not have enough time for the bankruptcy because it takes at least a month.
Should he files the bankruptcy whenever he comes back? He may not come back again. Should he just leaves the country with the debt? or should he call the banks?
Additional Details
Does he has to inform the bank about it if he leaves the country and file the bankruptcy later? |

He created the debt and needs to call the creditors and make payment arrangements that he can afford. Many companies will work with you in order to get their money. Either filing bankruptcy or just skipping out on the debt is dishonest and will cause future credit problems and could cause him problems re entering the country if he decides to return at a future date. |

11,000 is not all that bad. Tell him to contact the creditors and establish a payment plan with them. Alternately, he can reconsolidate in to one loan for both and probably save on interest.
Leaving the country and not coming back is not a good option, and neither is bankruptcy. It may take a few years, but he should be able to pay it off. |

If he might not come back then he should probably wait, unless his conscience will bother him. When he comes back he can file then. |

11 grand...tough call.....If he goes who ever was his garuntor is going to get shafted like.....make him stay and file for bankruptcy like because in fariness he did spend the money himself.....I know it's health stuff like its not like he snorted it up his nose but he is a big boy by the sounds of things and should really face p to his reponsibilities...... |
