What the difference in using credit or debit. And which is better to use when going to the store.?

khellsee yo
here's the easy explaination.

Credit- will not be taken out of your card asap. they will take it out a few days later. so if you have no money monday get payed wendsday this is for you.

Debit- is automatically taken out of your account. so make sure you DO have money in here when you use it. or the bank will hit you with over draw charges....

if u use a credit card u can use as much money as u like but ull probably get in debt if u do that lol but with credit u only spend money that u have so that is safer really x

debit gets taken out of your count immediately. credit gets taken out a couple of days later. i personally like doing debit, but if you dont like entering your pin number, you can do credit.

It really just depends on you. If you're talking about a Debit/Credit card that can be used either way, then really the only difference is that with Debit, you have to use your pin number whereas with credit, you will have to sign the receipt. Debit will deduct the money from your account immediately. Credit will "hold" that amount until the charge is turned in by the merchant. Either way, your money is tied up. It's just a personal preference.

The difference between a debit card and a credit card is that the debit card is similar to your writing a check. It gets immediately withdrawn from your checking account.

On the other hand a credit card is what the name implies. You're borrowing from the bank each time you use it. If you don't pay it off monthly you'll be charged interest.

Both can be costly to use. For most though the debit card is usually easier to control though as once your checking account is empty you can't use it.

Usually bank check cards let you use them as credit cards (though they are not, because the money is withdrawn from your checking account usually in a couple of days, so you are not carrying a revolving balance), or as debit cards (in which case the cash is withdrawn from your account immediately). For use as a credit card your signature is typically required. For use as a debit card you need to enter your PIN. Consider carefully where you enter your PIN. Card swipe machines which are left unattended, such as at many gas pumps, could have been tampered with. If you swipe your card and punch in your PIN you could be giving a prospective thief access to your checking account.

credit is better to use since most places will not charge you to use your own money, credit can be used on a debit card which is a bank card only no service fee to use, this may be different according to the bank and the credit company listed on the card. However while using credit instead of debit it could possibly let you overdraft. I never use debt. Plus /i believe it is safer using credit since you have to sign your name rather than enter a pin that is usually only 4 to 6 digits long which can be really easy for someone else to remember don't you think.

debit at my store charges not only you but us when you go that route. I think it is a dollar or so. not sure. but we suggest people to use credit. up to you really.

Well, at my bank they issue debit cards w/ a Visa logo that you can use as credit. If you use it as credit, you get money back once a year. My bank gives us 5% of what we spent, back. So I always use it as credit unless I need cash back at the grocery store. You only get cash back if you do debit.
