you get harassed by collections. just pay. that amount is not worth filing BK over or being subject to collections. collection accounts are a negative on your credit report, and can make getting credit harder in the future. |

it'll go to a collection agency and if you still don't pay it'll go on your credit score (you don't want that) |

They keep sending you bills and summons until they take you to court. Most of the time they dont even care and leave you alone. |

Well this person will end up with very poor credit for the next 7 years. His credit card priviledges will be lost . In addition to collection agencies harrassing him non stop by phone and mail, he's likely to get a summons to appear in court for non payment also known as being sued by the creditor.
So you need to pay your credit card bill. If it's already in collections, call and make arrangements with them. |

In the long term, you will be unable to qualify for good loans for cars, homes, etc. because your credit will be ruined. Many lenders will be simply refuse you with ANY collections. |

aqua,
Your best bet would be to try and pay off the debt, if at all possible.
There's a good article at eHow on steps to take to begin tackling your debt. Take a look at it:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2326032_avoid-escalating-debt.html
How to Stop Escalating Debt
You can also look here for tips on earning some extra cash online:

How to make money on the internet, scam-free
Lastly, here's an interesting alternative to conventional lending...getting a "social networking" loan from Virgin Money (from the same folks who run Virgin Airlines):

Hope these help. |

Well, you will certainly have terrible credit from it for two years, then just merely bad credit for the remaining five years. Beyond that, you could face a charge off AND a collection account. You could face a summons, judgment, and wage garnishment. Or they could just ignore it and never bother collecting on it. |

If it is sent to collections, it will ruin your credit for the next 10 years. The 7 year drop off is a myth. They'll sell your account to a collection agency who will charge a fee to you for their service. 2 or 3 years down the line, they'll sell it to someone else for another fee to you and 2 or 3 years down the road they will sell it again. Each one will be another collection agency on your credit report and that charged off account will sit there haunting you long after the 7 years are up.
Eventually, they can garnish your wages to get the debt paid. They can go to court and in the settlement against you they can have a debit hold placed on your personal checking & savings account.
It's so much better for you if you just try to work something out with the credit card company. |

Nothing of significance, especially if he has no income other than govt. benefits (DSS, SSD, SSI etc.) Collections will call, but they can be fun to f*ck with lol. They MAY obtain a judgement against you, but if you don't own much, it means jack. It'll screw up your credit, but sometimes that just isn't important in life... it'll go away in 7 years anyway. |

if you dont pay on it the amount will increase and then it will get sent to a debt collector and it will go on you credit record witch will make it hard in the long run if you want to buy a car or a house |

First off, why would anybody get themselves into that much debt? Maybe they will learn a lesson. Second, you could get your stuff repossessed and the credit card people will keep harassing you. Eventually the person would stop answering their phone and the credit card people would start calling neighbors and annoying them about talking to you about it and your neighbors will get mad at you because now they're being harassed. I think there are companies that can help you get on a plan to paying it off, but seriously, this person shouldn't have gotten themselves in this bad in the first place. |
