Truthfully, I'd hold onto it. I would then read the papers in the lost and found section every day for a week or two. If someone was looking for it, I'd contact them. IF they could tell me how much was missing and in what denominations Like four hundred in twenties, and the rest in fifties and hundreds. And this is what I found then I'd most likely return it. If no one ran an ad for it after like a month or so, I think I'd claim it as mine. |

I would hold onto it for a week and see if the owner tries to get help from the news. Then I would keep it. I would give it back if they really needed it, like the cash was dropped by a charity or something. |

You have to remember that $1000 is not a lot of money.
The right thing to do is look for the owner / turn it in. I feel that with such a small amount and corruption it would be just as easy to pick it up and keep on going.
I need some cash for my vacation at the end of August in the Nevada desert.

Assuming there is no way to find the rightful owner consider it yours to do as you please. It would of course be a good thing to share a portion of your windfall with a charity or religious organization of your choice. |
