Don't fall for those instand credit repair companies that promise you the moon and stars. Fixing your credit takes years. First,write down all of your expenses,charge accounts,personal loans,credit cards etc.. Make a budget as to how much you can pay each one per month.
Now,call each of these companies and make arrangements with them to let them know your financial situation. Paying slowly is better than not paying at all. Start with the smallest first.
If you can pay it off in one shot,do it. Work your way up and over time,your credit record will show you're making the payments.
If this means no going out for a while,so be it. Good luck. |

Hello. You may want to check out the services of the Lexington Law Firm. One of their main services is credit repair. One can attempt to repair your credit youself, but the process is a long and complex one, as the credit bureaus actually look down upon those who try and improve their credit, even when there is incorrect information on one's report. One thing that they use is stall letters to help deter one from seeking professional help, saying that you can do the work, yourself, etc. And, incorrect information is a serious issue on a lot of people's credit reports. Plus, I have found out that even the way that a company bills you for credit repair is an issue, as you can only be legally charged for services that have been performed, already. In the USA, Federal law prohibits individuals and businesses from charging you for credit repair services before the repair services have been preformed. It will not happen overnight. It will take work and persistence, but you can do it YOURSELF IN A MATTER OF MONTHS.
Or, on EBay, buy Guerrilla Credit Repair by Brete Thomas (less than $20). Do not pay a companyy to repair your credit, you can do it yourself legally with the proper research. Disputes and other methods are very useful. Other users keep saying pay your bills, this works if you have perfect credit, but if your credit report is already messed up, this could HURT you! Paying an old charge off or collections without forcing the creditor to remove the negative marks in exchange for the payment could start the clock over on bad debt. USE THE LAW TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. Do research, and dont listen to what most people tell you. |

Common sense ... you didn't mess up your credit overnight so you cannot fix it overnight. Pay off your debts as quickly as possible and stop charging. Keep your eye on the prize so to speak. Your higher credit rating will reduce your interest on the future goals where you need financing... home, car, etc. Use cash whenever possible and learn the difference between wants and needs. Only use credit for assets, not for liabilities. |
