 I received a demand for payment of money today in relation to a 7 year old catalogue debt that I cannot even? |

They have people called "skip tracers" who do nothing but scour public records for people. Every time you move, you still have to get utilities, find a job, get a telephone, etc. etc. - all of which are allowed by law to provide information to people to whom you owe a debt.
If you want to get collections agencies off your back, your best bet would be to pay them off. They won't go away, and you will be doing yourself a HUGE favor (not to mention saving yourself a whole lot of money) by getting your credit straightened out. |

An agressive collection agent can always find you. Your name is on some sort of public record, like loans, drivers licenses, etc....
They may even have called a friend, relative, family member, or employer tht is listed on your current credit reports. I've even seen them pull up phone numbers for neighbors and pester them for your locations.

DID YOU FORWARD YOUR MAIL?? LOOK ON THE ENVELOPES, IT SAYS "FORWARDING AND ADDRESS CORRECTION REQUESTED"
THAT'S HOW. THE POST OFFICE SENDS THEM A POSTCARD WITH YOUR NEW INFO ON IT. AND IF THEY KNEW YOUR BANK ACCOUNT THEY WOULD HAVE SUED YOU BY NOW AND BE GARNISHING IT.
WE ALSO HAVE SEVERAL PROGRAM THAT WE USE TO SKIP TRACE PEOPLE. IT IS ACTUALLY A LOT OF FUN TO LOOK FOR AND FIND PEOPLE.
I WOULD SUGGEST TO STOP RUNNING FROM YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAKE SOME TYPE OF PAYMENT ARRANGEMENT WITH YOUR CREDITORS.

If you file a change of address card with the post office, anyone who sends mail to your old address can ask to be informed of your new address. If you keep the same phone number, they can do a reverse directory lookup on your new address. Even if you change phone numbers, they can get the new number from the phone company message and do a reverse lookup. Collection agencies usually have enough information about you to keep tabs on you wherever you go. You might as well make a plan to pay the bills. |
