You can get one from your bank, but you might want to try a department store like Target or Kohls or Macys.
I tried all those places but i got rejected because i just turned 18. I think Capitol One might be your best bet. I got one from them.

There are many banks and lenders that have programs for younger folks and first time credit applicants...take your pick. BUT do your "homework" on credit cards very carefully and learn how to use credit responsibly, and look for one that has a good rate, look at terms and conditions, etc.

Make sure you have a job first. Get a checking and savings account at a local credit union. THEN apply for a credit card at the same credit union. They will see your income and be able to help you out. Credit unions are much more user friendly than banks are plus their rates are a lot more reasonable.
Don't go crazy though!

Do not apply for multiple credit cards? If you apply for a credit card an inquiry is placed in your file. Too many will lower your score. Each credit inquiry will stay on your report for one year from the date of the inquiry. After six months of no credit inquires a person's credit score will begin to recover.
Since you have no credit you have two options.
1) Apply for a student card if you are a student. They have low fees or no fees and offer unsecured credit.
2) Get a card designed for people with no credit or bad credit. There are fees associated with these cards, but you have a chance to start building good credit at a young age.

Well a large limit is nice to have when you have a family and you want a way to pay for unexpected costs. However someone who is just looking to start credit should start with a lower limit. Orchard Bank is a credit card company I used and they gave me a 500 dollar limit. The interest rate was not all that great, but I received it none the less. If you are just starting your credit, and you try to get a card that only people with established credit get, you will obviously be turned down. But remember that they HAVE to check your credit. And too many inquiries will hurt your credit score. Search for "no credit ok credit cards" and see what you come up with. After you obtain your new card, maintain a 25%-45% balance AT ALL TIMES. That is how the credit corporations (transunion, experian and equifax) like to see you using it. If it’s at 0 balance, they think you don’t use your credit, if at 100% they think you abuse your credit. A 25-45% balance shows that you are responsible with your credit and your score will go up faster. Meaning you can qualify for a better card faster. Get no more than 3 cards and maintain the balance. For your credit to go up the fastest, you need a minimum of 2 but no more than 3 revolving accounts. and remember, when ever you acquire new debt your score will drop for a few months so give it time to o back up before applying for another one. Sorry for the long answer but it is a very important topic that people don’t seem to take serious. I am a loan officer so I look at credit all day and have learned the tricks. Good luck and remember just because your not using cash doesn’t mean you won’t have to later!
