You are permitted one annual credit report a year; as well as if you are denied credit for some reason you are able to request a credit report from that credit bureau without it costing you anything.

You are entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the 3 credit bureaus. You can get your credit report online at www.annualcreditreport.com. I would recommend requesting one report every 4 months instead of requesting all 3 at the same time. Also, depending on where you live, you may also be entitled to a second free report from each of the credit bureaus by calling them directly.

You cannot, however, get your credit score for free. When you order your free credit report online, you will be given the option to purchase your credit score for a small fee (less than $10). |
