There are more that a few lenders who specialize in credit cards for people with bad credit. You just have to look a little harder than most people have to.

And getting a card after you've had a few problems doesn't necessarily mean that you have a higher than normal rate. Like, I said, you'll just have to compare between credit lines, yearly fees, and interest percentages. Just make sure you do your homework BEFORE you commit, and you'll be fine.

You can find some offers for credit cards, both secured and unsecured here:

Orchard Bank has a credit card available for creditors with poor credit, they will tell you which one is best, and it usually goes like this, you want $200 credit, you deposit $400 into a saving account it earns interest...$500 credit, deposit $1,000...etc...check them out.

You can find a complete list of credit cards for people with bad credit here:

Unfortunately, it will be almost impossible to find a card with 'no annual fee' if your credit history is poor. But they usually add this fee to the balance of your card-- so you don't have to worry about paying it upfront.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!

Orchard Bank and First Premier Bank credit cards are easy to get with bad credit. They both have annual fees, but they are included.

Shop for cards at www.bankrate.com. If you've applied for a few and aren't getting accepted, consider getting a secured credit card. This is where you make a deposit up front, and then it works like a regular card (you still have to make monthly payments and stuff.) It's probably not what you ideally want, but it will give you a chance to improve your credit score.

I'd start with the major card-issuing banks: Capital One, Bank of America, Citibank, etc. You can go to their websites and fill out online applications.

If your credit is not good, to avoid an annual fee, you will probably be saddled with some pretty steep interest rates.

Try your own bank first, provided you do not have a bunch of overdraft checks and have some money in the bank, they should help you.

Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders. A 'shopping' card offers you an unsecured line of credit from specific sellers. Use these cards to increase your credit rating, since the credit bureaus will be informed about your timely payments. Take care to ensure your credit is good by making intelligent credit choices. Keep low balances, do not be extravagant and take care to pay off your balances promptly every month.
