Unless you have excellent credit and a very high income, that is not likely to happen. For a loan that size, the lender will want some sort of collateral. Unless you have something else worth at least that amount of money that is acceptable to the lender, you'd have to use your home.
I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use your house as collateral. The interest you pay on a home equity loan is tax deductible in most cases so it will reduce the taxes you pay. If you have a regular loan, the interest you pay gives you no other benefits. Unless you are planning on defaulting on the loan, there's no reason not to get a home equity loan. |

The short answer is nobody is going to give you a $70,000 unsecured loan. A few thousand dollars ... maybe even $10,000 ... but beyond that they are going to want SOMETHING for collateral that they can hold or have a lien against in case you default on the loan. SO ... if you don't want to use the house ... you'll have to come up with a lot of money in other property ... stocks, bonds, etc. to use as collateral. |
