The government has set up a program to offer free credit reports from the three major reporting agencies. Most of the agencies will try to sell additional services, but if you decline those offers you will be able to see your credit report.
You can get one copy of each of the three reports in a 12-month period. Since there are three agencies, the best way to monitor your credit is to view a report from one of the agencies every four months, so that you can keep track of your over the course of the 12-month period. |

www.annualcreditreport.com is the only one set up by the 3 big credit bureaus that will give you your report once per year from each bureau for free. You do not have to sign up for any trial offers of credit monitoring or other crap.
You can also request by phone. Go to each site, www.experian.com, www.transunion.com and www.equifax.com to get the phone numbers.
You do not need a credit card, but you will have to answer some questions about your credit history, as proof that you are who you say you are. |
