Which credit card should be paid off first?
I have 2 credit cards that I'm trying to get paid off. Card A has a balance of about 700 and an interest rate of about 9%. Card B has a balance of around 1700 and a REDICULOUS interest rate of 28%. Which card should I focus on paying off first? Card A has the smaller balance, but the I'm really getting ripped off with the interest on Card B.

Pay off card B as fast as you can while at the same time try to pay off the intrest on card A

Can you roll the balance from card B to card A? If not pay the minimum to card A and make payments as large as possible on card B. Stop using card B ASAP.

ALWAYS pay off the highest interest rate card first. The faster you pay it off, the less interest.

Take every penny you can squeeze from your budget and throw it at the highest rate card, while paying minimum on the other. When the highest rate card is paid off, move to the other.

You may want to see about doing a balance transfer from card B to card A that will put you at a much lower interest rate on the larger balance card and most of the time, Credit card company's have specials ex: Balance transfer 50.00 transfer at a rate of 5% for 90 days type thing. but overall you will be paying less in fin. charges.

scarlettknight62
Pay off Card A first then, call that credit card to see if you can transfer the balance from Card B and at what interest rate. If not call around to see where you can get a better rate with another card. Years ago this is what I did to get out of debt. Pay the card with the lowest amount then, go to the next card and make payments on that one adding on the payment of the card you just paid off and so on. I paid off $25,000. on 3 years.

Over and Over
make a little bit above the minimum on card a and as much as possible on card b. Also it wouldn't hurt to call up card b and ask them to lower your interest rate, the worst that can happen is them tell you no.
You do not want to get a new card that offers 0% like some people have mentioned because it will lower your credit score even more.

pay off card b...i kn from experience

Just Being Honest!
First ask both of your lenders if they can lower the interest rate. Even though 9% isn't too bad, 28% is RIDICULOUS!!! PAy that one off first and if you are able to transfer it onto a credit card that has a lower interest rate do it!!! Never get a card with that high of an interest rate again :) We learn from out mistakes though I have about 2 more months and I will be credit card free! :)

whatagal828
See if you can do a balance transfer to the lower interest rate card, or even a new one if the interest rate is low.

Suze Ormons rule is pay the card that you are paying the most interest on (not interest rate), but most interest amount.

Keep in mind the way to get PERFECT credit is to use credit cards but pay the balance in full each and every month. Never carry balances. That just reduces your credit worthiness.

Consider a balance transfer to another card on that card with 28%. Capital One and Discover still offer 0% for 6 months on transfers (I think).

Go to bankrate.com - they have a list of cards that offer 0% on balance transfers. Just make sure you pay it off in that 6 months, because the interest rates jump sky high after that intro period.
