Well the only answer that Harvey seems capable of giving is Imagine .He tells everyone the same thing.Everyone is screaming don't get a credit card they don't do you any good.I guarantee none of these people who are saying that have a mortgage or they would know what it takes to build credit.
You do in fact have to build your credit by being approved for and paying a credit card or some other credit.
You're never going to get a Citi or especially an Amex with fair credit. Both of them require excellent credit.
I've had all of the fair credit cards and Orchard Bank (HSBC) has the lowest fees and best customer service bar none.
Building credit is important for your future when you want to finance a car, house or sometimes just get insurance.Start with Orchard then First Premier and if that doesn't work go for the Imagine card but that one costs five times what Orchard does and their customer service is useless. And I mean useless. |

Check out this card. It is guaranteed acceptance with no credit check. The limit starts out low but builds as you pay on time. The good news is that it reports to all 3 credit agencies so you can build your credit back up without the temptation to go overboard because of the lower limit.

If I know your score I could tell you better.
I would try for the Citi gold Advantage card. You should be able to pull off a 5K card with fair credit.
Chase has also matched that limit for me as well. |

Orchard Bank Platinum MasterCard - Credit cards from Orchard Bank are very good for people trying to build their credit. They offer various cards for people with different credit levels, whether you have good, fair, or poor credit, there is always a card that fits you. Fill out their online application and they will recommend the right credit card for you. Good luck. http://www.iapplyforcreditcards.com/bad-poor-credit.php |

none, if you can't pay for it with cash then you don't need it. Why put yourself in a situation to create debt and make your credit even worse |

NONE! do not, do not, I say again. do not get a credit card! The credit card is the biggest rip off ever perpetuated on the american people.....well, next to payday advance joints. You credit score is for one use only, to help the banks decide how much debt you can go into. when buying any big ticket item such as a house or car, you can get a good deal with lousy credit if you have cash. Guy at a car lot once told me that "Cash buys Credit" |
