Debit cards are nice, but they can hurt you more than one realizes. If you keep track of your current balance then you will be OK, but realize this, some places don't post the purchase until long after you bought that gasoline, and this could cause an overdraft in your account.

Not all POP (point of purchase) systems wait for balance verification via the Internet, they will go ahead and process the purchase and post at a later date.
Also debit cards do not reflect on your credit report and do not provide a history of payments.

So if you wish to improve your credit score, drop the debit cards. If you want to simplify things, then use the debit but keep an eye on your available balance.

One word of CAUTION: Try not to use any ATM's in those small convenience stores or ones not owned by a banking system. Some are privately owned and data transmitted is not on a secure server. This is where a lot of identity theft occurs.

I have both, but I prefer the credit card. First of all, they have benefits like price protection and loss protection etc. Most importantly though, if you fall victim to fraud, the money comes right out of your own bank account. Good luck trying to get that back. With a credit card, your losses are limited (usually to $50 if you report it etc.) The cc company will fight the allegedly fraudulent charges and give you a credit in the meantime. Much better!

They both have their own pros and cons. But i find a debit card to be more useful to me than a credit card, Mainly because i don't like spending money i don't have. It's easier to control my spending, and they take a debit care most anywhere they will take a credit card

Debit card is sfe. But it will be useful only if you have a good bank balance . If not credit card will be beneficial.

debit card is the best. you always know your limit for spending. it will help in not spending whimsically.

A debit card that can also be used as a credit card, that way it can be used at places that don't have debit ability but do have credit ability. Just be careful because it always comes from your checking account and it is easy to use your card and forget how much money is left in the bank.

credit card..no doubt..but you use tat card only for for pUrchasing....not to take money...pay ur credit with in tat time..otherwise you have to pay more interest
