The best prepaid card is your own debit card. I have one from the Bank of America. No annual fees, free w/direct deposit, the account has a savings/checking portion, they transfer the extra pennies and cents to your savings account to help you save more, and it is accepted as a regular Visa everywhere. |

I have 2 gold Mastercards with them. Limit they allow is around £15k. Very good services. |

i use the capital one pre-apid visa card - well its guarenteed (£200 limit with £200 deposit). interest rate is a killer but I make sure I pay it off in full.
only 1 i could get after my bankruptcy ran out but its allowed me to rebuild my credit history and ive since been successful in getting 2 more from other lenders.
i still keep it, more from habit i think |

Mine's called a visa debit card. Just a bank account really. No money in it, no debits to be made. And cause it's visa i can use it for phone transactions and eBay :-) |

I like Greendot and Western Union prepaid cards. You can refill them almost anywhere. |

If your in the UK www.egg.co.uk . The Egg money card is a hybrid credit/debit card. It allows you to either credit the card with an allowance at something like 4.5% and debit upto your credit limit if you wish at around 15%. it also pays 1% cashback on all spending. |

You should still read the terms and conditions of the application form, since prepaid credit cards can charge:
Monthly subscription fee
An application fee
A shopping fee
A monthly transaction limit fee that is charged if you spend more than a predetermined amount.
A fee for making ATM withdrawals. |

From my past experience, the 2 that I've heard the best things about are the Wired Plastic Visa and the AccountNow MasterCard. If you've had problems getting a checking account, they're the next best thing to have because they work just like one. They both have free direct deposit so your paycheck can be loaded onto it, online billpay, which I like AccountNow's a little better because they have a credit building program with theirs. And the ability to reload the card at any MoneyGram. I posted the link to both cards where you can do some comparison shopping. I've had both cards, so they each have their benefits to have. |
