Shannon A | Which is worse for your credit? Continuously missing payments, or filing bankruptcy? |
I keep getting letters in the mail from creditors about my deliquent accounts, and am wondering if I should file bankruptcy or not. |

it doesn't matter. No one will ever lend you more money either way. I think both ways should make your credit horrible. It'll take YEARS for you to rebuild without missing a single payment for rest of your life.
Technically speaking, filling for bankruptcy will have bigger impact on your credit score. But like I said, either way your score is going to be horrible.
I would suggest taking an action that is the quickest and start rebuilding your credit properly. |

Both or very bad. But if you can write and ask for them to change or dates of payment or a forbearance on a student loan or deferment. Go get an extra job any where!! Try really hard before bankruptcy!!! |

Bankruptcy is the last resort. If possible to pay credit cards late and it should be also possible to negotiate a better deal. You would be surprised to find out that after a few calls you ahve reduced your biils |

Bankruptcy by far is much worse than missing payments.
Why are you missing payments? Out of work, or spending more than you make, leading to not being able to pay your bills? |

It is unarguably worse for your credit to file bankruptcy. If you are behind on payments it will affect your credit, but you always have the opportunity to start paying back what you owe. It's not a wipe out.
If I were you, I would arrange to make payments on the balance that you are delinquent on. That way you'll repair your credit without ruining all chances you have at a good financial future. |

only you know the answer to that --- every time you go 30 days down on any payment it hurts youe credit |

Well from the first 30 day delinquency you're credit has been steadily coasting downhill. It really depends on how long you've been in collections. If it's fairly new I'd suggest paying up and getting your accounts current. If they're older > 2 yrs I still suggest you pay them (get a pay for delete letter from creditors in writing). Only declare bankruptcy if you have absolutely no means of paying your debts. This will stay on your credit report for a minimum of 10 years. |

Losing your house to foreclosure is the "worst" thing on a credit report.
2nd is bankruptcy.
3rd is not paying your bills (continually missing payments). |
