Why can't I get a credit card?
I see people all the time who have 25,000 in debt for school loans or people who get pre-approved credit cards in the mail on a daily basis who have NO business having them. I am a 25 year old male, and aside from a few doctor bills I'm paying on and a 1200$ student loan I took out for books, I don't owe anyone a dime. My car is paid for, my mortgage is current, all my utilities are paid, but I can't even get a credit card from wal-mart. All I can manage to get is a debit card to use with my checking account.

So here's the thing, I want a credit card to use in case I need it, all these companies are pushing their cards on tons of people who are already in debt or have been bankrupt etc, but for some reason I can't get anyone to give me one. Anyone got an answer for me?

There are many factors why you would be denied a credit card and it is based on these factors.
1. Affordability--ability to pay new and current debt
2. Creditworthiness----your credit history (derogatories,
utilization, potential debt burden, length of time on credit
history, Number of inquiries in 12 months.
3. Stability, residence and job usually 2 years and up.
4. net worth- fall back in case you lose your job.
Hope this helps

I assume you have verifiable income. Have you checked your credit reports (www.annualcreditreport.com)? See if there is derogatory or erroneous info there.

It is time to pull your credit report to see where is you standing. Maybe there are some identity theft you don't know about. And you should pull them from all three major companies.
As for the junk mailing (solicting credit card), they just send out to ppl and even they say approval, but when you apply they won't give it to you.
The best way is to work with your bank, if you have a BOA account, then apply a credit card with them, usually, it is easier.
Choose some cards are easier to get like capital one, MBNA (I think they merged with BOA, not sure), American express. To build credit quick is to max it out for three month and pay it off. And you will see your credit limit increased.... don't ask me "WHY", it is experience. Same thing with your next car loan.

People with bad credit or poor credit are often face difficulties in obtaining a credit card. The fact is indeed true that their choices are limited when it comes to credit cards but, credit card issuers are increasingly offering financial products that specially cater to bad credit people.

Bad credit problem can be caused due to a number of situations. The credit card choices available to bad credit people allow them to rebuild their credit history. Financial products that help bad credit people are prepaid credit cards or debit cards, secured bad credit cards, unsecured bad credit cards.

Prepaid or debit cards:

These are the easiest option available for bad credit people. There are no verifications, no credit checks, no employment requirements, and the approval is instant. All they have to do is to deposit a money and a prepaid card is issued. This card has the borrowing or buying capacity equivalent to the funds deposited. The good thing with prepaid credit card is that it promotes financial discipline. Some prepaid card issuers report to various credit rating agencies, thus it helps in rebuilding your credit history. You say all of this, but what it really boils down to is your credit score.

Do you know what it is? In todays world, to get a decent interest rate or even qualify for a card, you often need to be in the 700's.

Check you credit report and make sure there aren't derogatory comments. Paying your bills late once can mean a negative mark for up to 7 years.

You can also request the reason your account was denied when a company turns you down.

I suggest you establish a good credit history.

First, apply for a credit card from the bank where you have your mortgage - fill the application form and attached all the required supporting documents.

Once the credit card is issued, use it for your regular expenditures. Pay the card issuer before the due date in the statement of account.

Soon, you will also receive pre-approved credit cards in your mail.

First of all, stop trying to get store cards. Go to your bank and ask them to issue you a Visa or Master Card. I'm assuming you have a job and income. Do you have a Costco store in your area? Join Costco and apply for the Costco American Express Card. It provides a cash rebate and has no annual fee. It is one of the best cards you can have.

It is possible that you are refused a card because there is a problem with your credit report. Get your free report from the three agencies and see if there is anything wrong there. to get your free report go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com

Anyone can get a credit card with the worst credit history by depositing money in a bank account that secures the card. This is not the best way to get a card, but if you resort to that, you can use it to establish you paying habits. Use the card to charge as much as you can pay fully every month. That avoids interest and develops your credit history. When used that way, a credit card can be a great convenience. When used to borrow and pay interest, it becomes an anchor around your neck. The card issuer enslaves you for life.

Do not feel like the Lone Ranger neither can I.

Start with a small card, First Premier bank and Orchard Bank are good starter cards. It will probably have a $300 limit: use is wisely, pay on time and ask for a limit increase every 6 months. The card will probably have associated fees but make sure it is unsecured. After a year or more, you can more to something like a Capital One card. Or do a secured card; you give the comapny cash as a way to secure the debt you might incur. Costs money but it gets you going. Or get on a card with somebody liek a parent who is more credit established. You're probably trying to get too high a card for your situation, start small.

check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com here they have all major credit cards and you will be able to compare them side by side you might have to get one for people with poor credit but once you have that card for a few months and are using it to make everyday purchases but paying it off at the end of the month you could apply for a better one and cancel the first one you have allways compare when your credit gos up. Good luck
