If no one is willing to give you an unsecured credit cared, start by going down to your local bank, and get a secured one, where you have to put up acertain amount of money for the credit limit you want. They hold the money as collateral, until your credit is established. This may be 6 months to a year, and you get your money back, and by that time you will have more credit card offers in the mail than you know what to do with.

When you say rebuild your credit rating, does that mean you have dealt with any negatives that you had on your reports?

If you still have negatives, the first step in rebuilding your credit is dealing with those.

You might try to have someone add you as an authorized user on their credit cards. Be sure that the cards they add you to have an excellent history and low utilization. That should give your credit scores a boost.

If you still have negatives, the only other thing is to try for secured cards.

what?
Probably the reason that you keep getting denied is because you need to rebuild your credit. If you have poor credit, what would the incentive be for a creditor to lend you money -- you've already shown that your not creditworthy. Also, if you keep applying endlessly, that will drop your credit score even more, because creditors will see that you really, really want credit, and therefore there must be a reason that you want the credit so much.

First, you're probably going to have to get a secured card -- it's just a fact of life now. Pay it off on time for a while and eventually, you'll have no trouble getting a card, but that might not be for another 4-12 months depending on how bad your credit is.

And by the way, the reason that you keep getting applications is that you probably meet the creditors' pre-qualifications, i.e., their records indicate that you're alive.

Good luck.

Secured is the right way to go. You'll build credit just the same.
