They're hoping you'll pay it a day late an they can charge you a $25 late fee every month.

Finally cut mine up.

They want your business and if you have a credit card your more likely to spend more. Department store credit cards tend to have higher interest rates than Visa or MasterCard's. Unless you pay in full avoid department store credit cards.

Plain and simple they get the interest that you owe on the balance. Meaning if you buy a $50 pair of jeans and put it on your card, then pay minimum payments you will end up paying $60 for those same jeans Macy's will have made an extra $10 or so

Sigurros
Because you are most likely to spend more. I'm not sure if they have an annual fee but that may be part of it.

because i am sure they get some incentives ex: a portion of profits or interest

Psycmixer
24% interest!! + late fees.

PROFITS !!!! That is all the cards do, make the store more profits by getting you to spend. Preferably in their store so they make money on what you buy and get more money from the intrerest on the debt you put on the card.

Because if you use Macy's card instead of a regular credit card then Macy's doesn't have to pay a fee to your credit card company. The fee is a small percentage of the amount of the charge.

Zeltar
The employees performance is partially based on how many customers open a credit card account. Macy's benefits from people opening a credit line with them just like Visa, MC, and AMEX benefit. People buy more than they can afford in a given month, which enables them to charge you interest and late fees. This is a revenue stream for Macy's.
