Stopped making $300+ payments in 2004. Shouldn't this show up as an adverse account on my credit report? Why isn't it there? It should at least be listed and say "charged off as bad debt" right?

It depends on what credit report you are looking at.. Trans-Union, Equifax? or the other one. Anytime someone reports something to your credit.. it doesnt mean that they send it to all 3..You want a report from all 3.. you can get one free anually at Annualcreditreport.com. I hope this helps |

It's on there- you just didn't get all 3 reports, right? I would be willing to bet money that the other 2 you did not run, both have it on there. |

Depends on who you owe it too. Its that simple. The person or company you owe it to might not care to pay the 3 credit agencies to show it. Its that simple, they have to pay to sign up and they might not care.
Its like when you borrow 200 bucks from your friend, thats not reported either. The person you owed the 8000 dollars might not want to pay to report you.

You can get a copy of your credit report for free once a year. Check them all.

why in the world would you want it to show up as bad credit. Lord man, be grateful it doesn't. The reaason that it is not showing is that NOT all places report anything to a credit bureau. It is their perogative if they wish to report it. Whether good or bad. In the same token, if it was good and you wanted it to show as such, you would be screwed there too as you would be listed as having NO credit anywhere. |

if someone has not charged you are you do not see it on your credit report as BAD debt, face the EAST , thank allah, praise vahallah and shut-up....
if they are going to find out, they are going to find out anyway!
I do not suggest that you HIDE from debt, but if their not talking, I'm not talking....

No don't call them.
Leave it alone. It just means that they haven't reported it. All companies don't report to the credit agencies. Let sleeping giants stay sleep. They could have lost records or didn't at the time have the capabilities to report to the credit agencies.
If you research it, they could very well report it and it will put a big ding on your credit.
