They continue to issue bank cards to illegal aliens,
which many (other banks) believe is detrimental to sound banking practices, and leads to an inordinately high volume of identity thefts.

Not to mention what the people above me said but Bank of America almost went backrupt, but they were bailed out by another company a few months back.

D S
They have the highest percentage of identity thefts

They have cards with high interest rates.

If you request to close your credit card, they will keep it open for 90 days in case you change your mind. If you're closing the account because of your son or daughter, have their names removed immediately when you call the first time.

I opened up a B of A Alaska credit card last year because I was told by B of A it had 20,000 bonus miles. A month later I found out it was not the card with bonus miles because I didnt qualify, however, B of A customer service told me otherwise just to get the card activated! When you need to talk to customer service about your account you are only able to talk to a machine. In addition, Bank Of America's website is complicated and payments are a hassel to make--you have pay $15 for over the phone and dont count on their myeasypayment.com because the website screws up on your payments even though you went through the process correctly. I made a payment last week and it never went through when I called B of A they said I have to pay again with late fee's because they said their not affiliated with myeasypayment.com even though their logo is all over it and it says all rights reserved to Bank of America!!!

I had a B o A check card and racked up $50 in fees my first week its a scam. I really dont know about their specific CREDIT card but as a rule all CREDIT CARDS are a scam for the middle class. you should stay away from all of them.

heybulldog
All credit cards can raise your interest rate for any reason.
All credit cards have outrageous late and over the limit fees.
All credit cards are snakes and will bite.
All credit cards, along with the fico (i love debt) socre was designed by banks to get people into debt and keep them in debt.

They are good for nothing else.

Get a debit card instead. It will do anything a credit card will do except get you into debt.

I think it's because they don't offer the kind of benefits other banks do. Like low interest or free rewards program. Citibank, Capital One or Chase are better options. You can compare different offers from these banks and find a good credit card that fits you best on sites like this one: http://www.creditcardatoz.com

I have three cards with them and I've never had a problem. I have had bogus fees (got charged $10 for a delivery fee when the checks never arrived). I went into the branch office and they refunded it in 5 min. flat. I couldn't ask for better service. My limits are decent and my rates are low, and they also refunded a finance charge I once had $40 in overdraft fees.

Good advice! I have had friends who were harassed by them (lost his job and had a family to support)-- we're talking a dozen phone calls every day to collect. They also levy every fee they can, and almost always never correct their mistakes. My hubby and I had a MBNA account we loved, but it was sold to Bank of America, we've had so many problems. If you qualify I'd suggest USAA, the United States Armed Forces Association. We love them, you can do everything from credit/banking to insurance with them- they even offer free financial advice. You just have to be a dependent of someone in the military or in the military yourself.

msfree
All of those answers are so untrue. They actually have some of the best rates around. Their cards are 100% fraud protected. And they just purchased Countrywide and MBNA a year ago. They are the only bank that has not dropped in the stock market and has not been affected by the recent economy. Do the research and decide for yourself if a Bank of America card is right for you.

music heals my pain
i wouldn't know, i've had one for about 3 years now and haven't had any trouble with it.
