NO! You should never live on credit. Look at our current ecnomic crisis..... it all stems from too many people living on too much credit.
It causes you to live beyond your means. Now, it is good to get a small personal loan when you are young. You need to establish some credit for when you go to buy a car or a house. But will you "NEED" a credit card? Heck no! You shouldn't. |

Yes and no.Everyone needs to establish a line of credit.But it needs to be done responsibly and not to be used for just anything mainly large purchases and then pay it off before adding more on.This will give you a good credit rating.But for daily or weekly use money works best,keeps you out of debt,and you know right away what your budget allows.Credit is never that convenient it has hazards and hooks you on spending what you don't have.No way to live at all. |

It's still possible to get by without a credit card or a debit card in the U.S., but becoming increasingly more difficult, particularly in matters of travel. For example, you may be prepared to pay cash to rent a motel room or a car, but they'll usually still want a valid credit card or debit card. Ordering things over the phone requires a credit/debit card. You can frequently use PayPal or something like it (drawing on a bank account) when you shop on-line, but that isn't always an option, whereas a credit/debit card is.
Having one or two credit cards also provides some contingency in the event you need $5,000 or $10,000 for some emergency. Also responsibly controlling a couple credit card accounts (emphasis on "responsibly") provides some credit background for circumstances where you may want to borrow a larger sum of money, say for a car. |

No one needs a credit card. You can survive just fine by paying cash. If prefer not to carry cash, a debit card works just as well. |

No you will not. Keep it that way. Millions of Americans are consumed with more that 15k in debit. Be smart with your money and do not take out credit cards. |

A lot of people think they need one. But when it comes down to it, it is just convenient.
But, It is safer to carry a card than a lot of cash. Plus the card comes with little bonuses; points, discounts, etc. |

The correct answer is YES. Renting hotel rooms and cars usually requires a credit card, plus a credit card is the easiest way to establish and improve your credit.
All this "live without credit" nonsense spewed by people like Dave Ramsey is HORRIBLE advice. Try to get a mortgage or finance a car without a credit score. |
