Will I be accepted?
Im 6 and a half months pregnant, I start my maternity leave in 2 months and I am going back to work full time when my baby is 6 months old, Will I be accepted for a mortgage as I am currently renting for 550.00 per month pluss bills c/t ect and hate that it is just 'dead money'!
Additional Details
yes my partner would pay the difference for the 6 months as he is full time and i'd also get maternity benefit which is around 108.00 per week plus working tax cred ect.

morrison13@btinternet.com
yes you will as the mortgage company will want to know what your annual salary is and you are still considered as employed even although you are on maternity leave.

If you have a savings that would cover the payments for that amount of time, it should be no issue.

If you dont, and just plan to rely on a spouses income, it could certainly be possible that they are leery....but I think there are laws about this? Do some research. They shouldn't be able to discriminate.....but maybe taking 'unpaid' leave affects that.

BTW, I dont think you have to tell them you are taking 6 months. Say you are taking what your PAID leave covers.

Shop around on the net for your mortgage. My guess would be yes, you would be accepted by some - refused by others. the Nationwide would be a good bet.

You'll have to apply to find out. We know nothing of your creditworthiness here and could not possibly give you an accurate answer.

I can say that your being pregnant has nothing to do with the issue. They can't even ask you questions about that and I wouldn't volunteer anything. If you'll have enough money coming in during your maternity leave to make your payments, just go for it.

If this is joint, you should be okay.

Well it's hard to tell based on the info you provided. A lot of things play into getting "approved" for a loan. Your credit, how much you make, your debt to asset ratio, and how much you can put down will all determine that. Talk with a lender and get pre-approved. Ask him to check all he can in depth so you have a good idea before the underwriting starts if you will get funded!
