Well, most will but it's worth checking their website or phoning them up. I've just made a reservation for a well known London hotel for 3 nights in December and I could only reserve using a Visa / Mastercard or American Express .... switch cards were not allowed. Best to phone up and ask about their policies. |

if it is a visa debit card then yes
if it is a visa-electron card then no, this uses a different system and a lot of them dont have it. If their card readers do accept electron then it is taken from your account immediately and so it cannot be used as a guarantee, only as a deposit. So travelinn etc wont take it. |

any hotel which accepts credit card will accept debit cards with the visa/mastercard logo on them,
i would advise against using them at hotels because they usually put a freeze on the acount which may cause you to go into overdraft,
i would reccomend using a credit card that you are forced to pay back at the end of the month like an amex charge card |

As long as your debit card has Visa or Mastercard symbol on it (most do,) then it should work, as long as the hotel normally accepts credit cards. To them it is just plastic, and they don't care if it is "debit" or "credit" as long as it has the logo and you can read the number.
Even if your card doesn't sport a logo you may be in luck. Just call the hotel and ask them. |
