IF you already utilize less than 40% of your limit, it wont make a huge difference. However if you are close to the limit and you pay them off, it could up your score significantly.
Just keep those cards OPEN, becuase history is important. Dont pay them off and close them. |

Thats like saying:
"I think I'll eat up all of the groceries so I can go buy more"
if you are debt free who cares what the credit score is...... |

Yes, and even more so if you keep the credit cards since this improves your available credit balance. |

Yes it will. DO NOT take the advice to close tha ccount. That works against you. The object is to determine your credit worthiness. If you have had a high balance and it shows paid off and you still have that credit available to you without using it, you're a good risk. |

If you have large balances, it probably will. Keep most of the accounts open and use them a few times a year. This shows active accounts which looks good on your report. If the balances are low compared the your credit limit, paying them off won't help your score much. Closing too many accounts makes your credit history appear shorter than it is. This could actually lower your score.

All you need to do is always make your payments on time. It does not matter if you pay it all off. The only thing your credit score will show is that you have made all your payments on time. The zero balance will only be for your benefit. |

Yes but it will take a few months to reflect. Usually as long as you keep the balance under 20% it will have the same effect as a zero balance. |

Call the Fair-Issacs company in San Francisco. They may be able to answer this question and any other questions you may have regarding FICO. |

Not necessarily. If you have too much available credit then other companies may be hesitant to give you more because they fear you could suddenly max it all out. |

Probably. |

It will help if you make sure you close the account if you're not going to use it anymore because too many open lines of credit is not good on your report. So call and close the accounts that you will no longer use. |
