Banks usually want a crime number for their records when this sort of thing happens, so they will report it to the police. Whether or not anything comes of that is down to the CPS.
Your other friend will be reimbursed by the bank, but it may take time. They should set up a 'short account' in the interim so that your friend's position is unaffected.
Possible charges include theft, fraud and forgery (if she signed for the transaction in the bank). |

Your foolish friend should simply return all the cash & card & all details to your other friend and apologise, then there will be no fraud.
Otherwise, this is a very serious offence. |

First, she intercepted mail that was addressed to another occupant = mail theif. Second she went to the bank and without the knowlege and concent of the rightful owner went and withdrawn money. Sounds like fraud and theif. If the person who this has happened to finds out that money is missing from their acount without their knowledge, reports it to the bank that
T H E Y never received this card. There will be a lock placed on the persons acct and an investigation conducted in order to prove that the person is not scaming the bank out of money by making false accusations. Jail time, for your friend as it is probably her first offence, maybe 3-7 yrs. |
