I had a debit card which was used fraudulently a year or so ago. It was cancelled by my bank.
I had the details of this card saved within the account section of a website i often buy services from.
Without thinking, i went to purchase a product from this website, but the payment was declined since i had the details of (and was therefore using) this old card that had been cancelled.
Will this affect my credit rating? Remember it was only a debit card, so I am assuming it would not have been.
But can someone confirm this? |

Your credit score won't be affected. You transaction was not completed, therefor you are not in debt. |

No. All that happened was a canceled card was declined for a purchase. Nothing went through so there wasn't really any harm done. |

No it wouldn't effect your credit rating one bit, don't worry, It was only declined as the card would have been cancelled by the bank. |

The only way this would impact your credit is if your bank reported it when it was used fraudulently. I would hope that you worked this out with your bank at the time so it was not reported as a profit/loss write-off. |

No. you can gain marks against your record when you default on a loan.
I'm always losing my credit card and having automated billing declined against the old card. |

Usually not from using a debt card, however, it would be a good idea to obtain a free copy of your credit report from all three bureaus to see what is being reported on your credit report. Also, you may find useful information at www.genesiscreditgroup.com

No.......late payments or collection accounts affect your credit rating.

Judgements for eviction or small claims court will also show up on your report. |
