It depends as to why they have bad credit. Is it a past series of decisions that they are still feeling the affects of? If the behavior as to why they have bad credit has been corrected then go ahead, but try to keep your finances somewhat separated until their rating has come up a little bit. If their credit is recovering and you have good credit you may be able to help the problem by adding him or her to some of your accounts as an authorized user. Your good behavior and judgement will reflect on him or her. In the end its a personal decision, when you get involved with someone you take the good with the bad.

sure, just dont get married until his credit is cleared up

No... there's nothing HOT or attractive about someone who cannot handle their finances in my opinion. They may feel desperate enough to try to mooch off of anothers good credit at some point.

Be involved if you want, but please protect your own financial fitness!

PS - If you are the party with questionable credit... get help and get that under control ASAP

Absolutely not. If you have good credit, find a better match who is also nice and hot. Or, wait until that someone cleans theirs up.
The larger question is about accountability, and responsibility. Why invite problems? If you have to ask, then you already know the answer.

This shouldn't be a problem, provided you don't become involved in this person's credit situation. Don't open any joint accounts (banking or credit) with him or her. Keep in mind that any applications or contractual agreements, such as a apartment lease, can tie your credit history to his/her actions regarding that agreement.

depends on how they got that bad credit if its because they don't like to pay their bills run the other way they are irresponsible and immature

To answer your question, yes.

But I sure as heck wouldn't loan them any money, add them onto my bank accounts, co-sign for ANYTHING, get them a cell phone, give them (or get them) a credit card in my name, or buy anything for them under my name.

I don't care how nice and hot someone is.....I'm not going into debt for anyone except myself.

Yes. The question is: Do you stay involved.

A lot of young people start out with rocky credit. Then, as they gain knowledge and life experience can fix the mistakes of the past. When I met my partner he had HORRIBLE credit. By the time I found out I was already in love so I worked with him to help get back on track and fix his credit.

Of course, at the beginning, you don't comingle funds AT ALL. When you're ready to take to the relationship to the next level by living together or marrying, that would depend on whether the person has shown fiscal responsibility and cleaned up their credit. It's actually a great way to tell how serious the person is about you. Do they care enough to put their life in proper order the be the person you deserve?
