I Have a debt (upwards of 70kusd) accumulated over 6 years, from several credit cards/banks in California, that have been in default for three years. I'm assuming by now its been resold several times to collection agencies. I have next to nothing to my name ( a former biz partner scammed me) and have been unemployed for last 2 years, no assets, no car, very low bank acc balance (1000usd ave.) questions- -likelihood of default judgement placed still, bank freeze, against me at this point? -ramifications for me if i "pull" or view my credit report at this point? (will this trigger any new collections efforts on my debt or to serve me?) -likelihood of new collection efforts attempted if i establish an address in my name (apt rental) after several years of not having one? -could such a large debt result in more serious criminal charges? ex- suspicion of fraud i want to do the right thing (settlement) but seems like bankruptcy is the only option now... thanks for your time!
