what is bad and good for my credit score when using a credit card?
Here is how to get top 800+ scores someday.
Get 2 cards.
Use one for food and one for gas.
Pay in full each month.
You will never pay interest this way - so don't worry about APR.
47% of Americans pay in full each month - they have the best scores.
Never use more than 30% of your available credit limits.
Ex: Card limit $1,000, stay under $300 at all times.
Never close your oldest credit card - this develops length of credit history.
So it is important that you find a card without an annual fee.
Go to bankrate.com or nerd wallet. com (a money magazine site) and find a card you like.
Again, don't worry about APR - you'll never pay it if you want top scores.

Paying the bill on time = good.
Not paying the bill on time = bad.
Good luck!... ☺

Carrying balances of more than 30% of your limit, hurts your score. Pay off the balance and your score will rebound. If you always pay on time, you will build good payment history which will improve your score. Best way to handle credit cards is to pay the balance in full every month. That way you build credit and save on the interest.

Nothing.
"Using" a card does not affect your score.
Paying enough on a card on time helps your score.
Not paying enough a card on time hurts your score.
Having a high balance hurts.
Having a low balance helps.
Frequency of use has no effect.
Whether you press "debit" or "credit" has not effect.
What you purchase has no effect.
