Basically it depends on the amount of Gold you have in the country that how nuch note u can print....and if you print more than these standards your currency value be less.....in simple words if you have something more in quantity its value will be less, in case of currency same thing happened and ur currency start devaluing in international market as compare to international currencies like DOLLAR, POUND, EURO.
So the Central Bank keep check on that but sometime they do print more and results in inflation and other economic problems, the best example we have is of Zimbabwe where i heard u need bags od money to even buy a single cup of ica cream. |

Because a country's wealth is not measured by the amount of cash it has, but by the energy of its people and its physical and organizational resources. These do not change simply by printing money.
If a country has wealth W and an amount M of money, then the value of each unit (note) of money is W divided by M. So, if you print more notes, all that happens is that each note is worth less. |
